Three years after the zombie virus has gutted the country, a team of everyday heroes must transport the only known survivor of the plague from New York to California, where the last functioning viral lab waits for his blood. Right, well, that's the final proof that you can stop taking any notice of IMDb scores.

Whilst SyFy has a (deserved) reputation for outputting absolute GARBAGE, like 'Defiance', it now has two very good series under its belt.

One is 'Haven'.

The other is 'Z Nation'.

(Edit: Also dear, lovely, silly 'Warehouse 13', though it is now long gone.)

You can see the 'bounce-back' effect of this series, in the reviews, and the absurdly low rating it has on IMDb.

Those of low intelligence (but often higher wisdom) just watch Z Nation as-is, unfiltered, and - correctly! - say: "It's fun! It's pacey! What's your problem??"

Then comes the problem.

The pseudo-intelligentsia: the vast bulk of the middle-classes. They think they're intelligent, or even highly intelligent… and they aren't. They don't get jokes. They can't step back and look at something for what it is. And so they are doomed to make inaccurate judgements and pre-judgements, mainly to fit in with their hipster friends:

"It's so beneath us! How stupid! How gauche! (I know what 'gauche' means!)"

Then you get to the actually intelligent - sadly rare - and it's back to what the Dumb say: "This is fun! This is well written! These characters are great! WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM??"

I have almost given up on AMC's "The Walking Dead" - it has devolved into the most *tedious* soap-opera, with some zombie-killing bits in between. Every episode now it's "Ok, is this going to be mainly Rick crying? Or two snipers talking about their feelings, which we don't care about? Or is it going to be Daryl and Carol out in the field actually giving us some action to watch?"

Z Nation, by contrast, only gave us one naff episode (involving a nuclear reactor, nuff said) and even it was watchable. We ripped through all 13 episodes of Season 1 before we even realised we had. Also - the zombie biochemistry in Z Nation is very harsh: The Walking Dead's crew of characters have it very easy by comparison.

It's the ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE, people. It's utterly absurd and ridiculous. You can do ANYTHING YOU WANT with it! That's the whole point.

Z Nation is well written and very witty. Above all, it is (almost) never boring, something AMC/TWD needs to start remembering.

I'm proud of SyFy! Two good series! Keep it up! Write more!

I am sooooo looking forward to Season 2 of this series…

-

–

–- I have to agree with the reviewers that say to give it a chance. It's not TWD. Don't compare the two. Let it be what it is- a drama/comedy with zombies and people on a mission to save humanity.

I haven't laughed this much in a long time! That can only happen however, IMHO, if you watch it with out comparing it to TWD. Let it stand on it's on merit. Great writing and acting and a lot of one liners you might miss if you aren't paying attention.

So enjoy it for what it is.
